European portraits: American edition

Not quite sure what they are trying to do here. My guess is the fatter versions are supposed to be American because of the famous American fatness, however actual classical European art looks WAY more like the fat ones than the skinny ones.

Maybe the American is supposed to mean they took the classic Euro deal and gave it American style lipo and maybe a boob job and maybe even a shot of new world anorexia??
