And yet compared to the other Nordic countries (that are more comparable to Sweden than the rest of Europe), Sweden got absolutely fucking crushed while Denmark, Faroe Islands, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, and Norway all went virtually unscathed.

Not to mention that those European countries are entering a second wave... in June, their cases and deaths were completely under control while Sweden's were skyrocketing. What's to say that Sweden, which is on a different timeline due to it's decisions, won't see a similar second wave in the coming months?

Every country is so different when it comes to demographics, health care, population density, etc. These types of apples to oranges comparisons don't really say much.

Guy says apples to oranges comparisons don't say much but compares Sweeden to the Faroe Islands and Iceland.

Apples and oranges don't say much unless they support my POV.

Most Sweden cases come from Stockholm, which is not like any city in other Nordic countries. My current best estimation is that all places are heading towards similar rates adjusted for density travel business etc.
if you look at all states spiking it's those that had unusually low rates prior. Best explanation for New York Italy Spain etc having low numbers currently is because they had high numbers prior. ie effects of herd immunity. Non of the stupidity with the lockdowns and masks, and whatever other idiotic measures they think off, correlate to the data.
And of course ultimately it should be no surprise that Swedish experts are more trustworthy than the political hacks that make decisions in other places

As I mentioned, " that are more comparable to Sweden than the rest of Europe".

But I agree. You can throw that study out too. Was just trying to illustrate that you can hand-pick data all you want.

City(municipality) of Stockholm: Population 970,000 Pop. density 4550 / sq km
City(municipality) of Copenhagen: Population 630,000 Pop. density 7310 / sq km

I'm glad all the sports leagues and casinos remain open, despite the wishes and predictions of all the coronavirus fanatics :clapper:

Tides of public discussion will really turn when our death tallies blow the rest of the world away as well.

6 months later, there are 8 countries who have a higher Deaths Per 1 Million Population (USA has 605 Deaths/1M).

Sweden (who if I recall correctly did not bury their economy) has less Deaths/1M (579) than the USA.

I believe their economy suffered more than their direct neighbors like Norway and Finland

deaths per million
Sweden 579
Finland 49
Norway 61

Forget "the economy", Sweden didn't force people into isolation, and rob them of their rights. That's kind of a big deal.
I thought American's were supposed to care about rights. Only true, it seems, for a small minority.
And Sweden never were a party to the mask mandate stupidity. Another exercise in conformity and subservience, with no evidence of effectiveness.

And now they're immune. Plus, as a major bonus they won't have to support a large population of old and infirm people in perpetuity!

Whatever. I'm tired and don't care to argue anymore.

Trump 2020 let's keep up the great work.

We are having a discussion. :handshake:

And I think specific to what I posted yesterday, Trump doesn’t have much to do with it.

I'm not having the discussion anymore. Everyone, myself included, just believes what they want to believe and can hand select data/examples to back it up. Have you seen ONE person on this issue, anywhere online or in person, change their viewpoint due to discussion?

Not mad at you or anyone. It just is what it is.

I mentioned Trump (who doesn't have anything to do with what you said, you are right) because I think any way you cut it he's a fucking idiot that deserves massive amount of blame. Because in my opinion, either option done decisively, herd immunity keep everything rolling OR much more severe/strict lockdowns, both would have yielded better results then the perpetual covid and economic pergutory we are stuck in now.

But no one cares. Dems would have hated him no matter how well he handled it. Reps would have made excuses for him and blamed dems no matter how bad he botched it. Everyone just keeps being them.

Exactamente! (means "EXACTLY" in Spanish, Marty)

Gamelive isn't bad compared to the other sites for this kinda stuff.

I have a neighbor/friend that loves to shit on the dems no matter what. I told him to stop talking politics and we can remain friends, otherwise I'd rather not talk to him. The pro Repub anti Democrat (and versa-vice) (thats vice-versa reversed, marty) stuff has worn me out. I have 0 tolerance left for political talk in real life. With forums I can ignore the stupididty.

I'm curious what the haters wanted Trump to do exactly? (Besides trying to find some bullshit they can nitpick and blow out of proportion)
He "downplayed" and "didn't show enough leadership", or whatever that means. Because we look to our Tsar for answers to everything?

As far as I can tell, they organized some kind of response which I'm sure was no easy task within our shit maximize profit health care system (which undoubtedly leaves no room for emergency stockpiles of resources).
The extended lockdowns and mask pushing he resisted. I for one am glad he's there, as it seems the other side would still have us buried in the basement.
