yeah, the distance capacity of the airplane was of about 3000 kilometers and their destination from take off was also about 3000 kilometers, so they had a zero margin in case of delays, the pilot was the owner of that airline company and it was their only plane, it seems he tried to stretch the flight so not to refuel in a third country as that tends to be way more expensive, the plane was chartered for $150k and that would have ate a good chunk of the profits
 
$5,000 would have cost a stop to refuel, to pocket an extra 10k all those dead :facepalm:
