No, no, not Rooney as in NFL but an iconic Rooney all the same.

Andy Rooney will bid farewell to his regular spot on 60 Minutes tomorrow night. I always liked his outlook at the most mundane of things even though I rarely get a chance to catch anymore.

I broke my sports ONLY rule on football Saturday for this.

Muddy, even you must have liked Andy Rooney, didn't ya?

Past tense, a bit. I have been a 60 Minutes fan for decades and I used to always watch his segments. I even read one or two of his books way back when. I don't know if he has changed or I have, but I lost interest. I have been skipping his segments for a long time. Our philosophies do not mesh. I am pro-change and let's-try-something-new; he is an aggressive stick-in-the-mud always anxious to manufacture reasons why any change is not as good as the good old days.

I don't have time for people like that.

Plus as he has aged he has gotten that disturbing nubbin thing on his upper lip. That is a bit much to deal with.

Muddy, some of the old days were better and props to Mr Rooney for reminding us that not everything new is better. Like the days when you didn't need a second mortgage to fill up your vehicle with gas or when a dollar was worth a dollar. Andy Rooney would remember these things and he would agree but he would make me laugh when he said what I just said.
