I don't play steam but scores and odds can help you, maybe covers also.

My opinion on the steam is it's better on the lessor matchups and not the big games.

I did a lot of research on steam back in the day and there were a few situations in various sports where there was a slight edge betting against it but that's about it. Baseball totals within certain ranges were good. Again, betting AGAINST it.

As for the steam of one bowl season, that would be WAY too small a sample to mean anything. It would be like drawing conclusions from a short-term imbalance in heads/tails while flipping a coin.
