Of all the meaningless topics that Talking Heads ramble on and on about, NCAA Tourney snubs might be the biggest eye-roller for me.

Like I get how an affected school might be disappointed. Hopefully they would be introspective enough to say, Hey, if we're barely hovering on the edges of a field of 64, we are not exactly hot shit and we have no business getting too uppity. But sure, disappointed.

But don't talk at me about it.

I dont give a shit about it either. I guess if I was a fan or an alum of a that school I might be a little pissed.

Mississippi St can bitch, but if they made their FT's at the end of regulation, they would be dancing.

Yeah who cares...none of these teams will win anyway.

Could care less. Just give me 32 games in two days please. Thanks.

I'm actually quite giddy about the VT snub. You guys don't understand what it's like to deal with their fans. They (fans) are currently throwing a hissy fit over this and trying to figure out if there's anyway they can bolt the ACC and join the SEC. Every other ACC school's fans would be happy to show them the door.

They wouldn't even be in the conference if it weren't for the Virginia governor and the UVA president stepping in on their behalf a few years ago. The league was all set to add Syracuse, BC and Miami with a majority vote. The Big 4 in North Carolina (Duke, UNC, WF, NCSU) did NOT want Syracuse as they would be more of a threat in basketball. They preferred VT as the 3rd addition from the Big East. The 4 other schools outside of Virginia (FSU, Clemson, GT, UM) all did want Syracuse. (There's a continual struggle for power and influence between the Big 4 and the rest of the ACC).

So then Gov Warner (a VT grad) stepped in and exerted serious political pressure on the UVA board of visitors and president Casteen to break the tie in VT's favor, noting that exclusion would be "detrimental to the economy of southwest VA". And the UVA president went along with it, placing his tie breaking vote for VT... to the obvious detriment of his own university's athletic department. We had a chance to leave them swinging in wind with what was left of the Big East football conference, and instead gave them new found life to continue burying us at every chance. Fucking idiots.

So yeah, VT fans are insufferably arrogant for the most part. They believe they are a legit top 10 football program and on par with the best in the SEC. Just ask one. I'm being completely serious.

Technically speaking, I think we Alabama fans are suppose to be upset that Miss State got snubbed because then we got snubbed by the NIT because they are in that. But spring football practice started last Friday so....

On the bright side, Don'ta Hightower's rehab seems to be way ahead of schedule.

I am a little thrown off by the lack of disagreement with me here. I expect to be picked apart and receive the forum equivalent of flying headbutts from the top rope when I express an opinion.

Disorienting.

I can't stand the bitching after selection sunday....."worst part" of a great time of year.

I don't know what is more annoying, the whining about snubs or breaking down the fairness of brackets and seedings. It's such a waste of time. Does it really matter if Villanova is a 2 or 3 seed? Does it really matter if Duke got the lowest rated 2 and 3 seeds in their bracket? No. It's all such a fine line at that point...and far from an exact science...that I can't see getting worked up enough to even discuss it.

People are saying OSU got screwed because they are really the best #2 seed and they have the best #1 in Kansas. How is that a screwing? If they have to play Kansas it won't be until the Final 8. At that stage, if all the seeds survive, you're going to have to play somebody very good anyway.

Good point. I watched PTI and Around The Horn yesterday and there was a lot of time devoted to those two non-issues.

They obviously don't have enough to talk about. They need to expand their range of topics. Perhaps they should discuss offshore sportsbooks or better yet, the tenderness of my wiener. :anlight:

I was watching First Take on ESPN yesterday and the topic was Duke. Skip Bayless said the ACC was a good conference and Jalen Rose and Jimmy King both kind of scoffed. Bayless said, "well they got their teams in the tourney - Georgia Tech, Wake, Clemson, FSU...". To which Rose responded, "Oh, they got in?". I don't think he was joking either.

This was after they posed the question "What will Duke do in this tournament?" Rose said "Duke will get bounced". He then went on to say that they would get beat by Baylor. That game would take place in the regional finals - the Final 8. I don't know about anybody else, but I don't think a team being beat in the regional finals qualifies as being "bounced" from the tournament.

Those people frustrate the hell out of me. All they know is the top 4 or 5 teams. That's all they know about and all they talk about.

I heard someone say today that the seeding was stacked to get Duke into the Final Four.
