Are you Spiritual?

Brings back memories of my experiences with 12 Step programs in the 90's. At times they got to feeling like a who-is-the-most-spiritual? competition.

I am way on the low end of the spiritual scale as far as what they were talking about.

In a very literal sense, I am aware of profound things that lift the spirits and I consider those things very important and make them a part of my life. I have put a lot of work into those things in my time.

To be clear, that has NOTHING to do with superstitions, angels, fairies, imagined magical interconnections etc.

So my answer to the question is :dunno:

I probably have a faulty internal definition of spiritual, because of how I hear it used most of the time.

I feel it's usually taken to mean some sort of emotional connection to something that isn't other humans. It's usually a higher power, or the universe, or nature. That sort of thing. I have none of that.

I think the universe and nature are fascinating. We all know how I feel about things scientific. Lots of fascination there, but not an emotional connection.

I don't think of feeling a strong connection to other humans as "spiritual." But I guess by definition, it is.

One thing for sure, I usually don't like where the conversation is going when someone starts talking about spirituality.

Sometimes I'll randomly think of someone, that I haven't heard from or thought of in months, and then they will call within minutes/hours.. Spooky stuff like that happens sometimes.

Spooky spirits stuff.

Mental connection.
