Anyone grow any of their own vegetables/fruits?

Thinking about trying it; wifes kinda a health nut and it seems like it might be fun and i could save a lot of money...

anyone do this?? looking for advice/maybe a good book reccomendation?

im not talking about rogue scholer farming here we are talking food.

i read a few sites today, we dont have a ton of yard but thats fine w/ me cuz im thinking of starting small first anyways. maybe expanding if all goes well.

yep, have been for the past few yrs
tomatos, peppers, beans, peas, collards, cabbage, cucumbers mostly...
nothing better than a homegrown mater.

but WTF, its coming up on winter, ya cant grow vegies in the winter unless you got a greenhouse.

Nothing like a Great white tomato just off the vine.

grew tomatoes, peppers, basil, one year in colorado, real easy stuff. can't wait to be able to do it again, i miss fresh tomatoes.

salad, spinach, celery, parsnips, swede and sprouts supposedly can be grown in winter.

texas winter is not intense

but a good green backyard commitment, can buy you a much needed 15-45 mins of silence or podcast time after work
