Either one is fine. The comma makes it look like "amazing series" is a conclusion that FW reached after a brief pause.

Upon further review I believe any semicolon is proper of you're going to place anything there. Comma is arguable.

Good point, but the semi-colon is rarely used in casual writing. I myself am a big fan of the semi; it deserves to make a glorious comeback.

That was possibly the craziest game I've ever seen. Knights went from having just 2 shots in the 1st to scoring 6 goals in the 2nd (2 were disallowed) to nearly blowing a 4-goal lead. Like, wtf.
