Watched the Soul Power documentary on Amazon (Common, Dr J) about the ABA and NBA from 1966-1976. It may be as good as Ken Burns Baseball.

Iron Lung (2026) is a bit of a tour de force. My son and his friend had asked to go see this R-rated thing so I joined them. I went in completely blind, not knowing that this was a Youtuber's passion project and a low-budget adaptation of an indie video game. This Markiplier guy directed and acted in what is basically a solo project.
It became clear about 15 minutes in that the movie was going to happen 100% aboard a weird steel submarine that's leaking blood inside. I braced for 2 hours of misery.
But then it became riveting and super gripping. This Markiplier guy is a really good actor and he turned a pretty basic video game (that JL and I beat in about an hour) into a sci-fi cult classic.
JL and I were literally on the edge of our seats during the final scene.
It's not for everyone (again, it's 2 hours aboard a cramped, dark submarine) but we really enjoyed it. Will watch again when it comes out on streaming now that I know a lot more about the context of the project.
I hope we get to see more creative stuff like this coming out of non-Hollywood. Remarkable.
