What are we debating/arguing about?
Coronavirus is not an issue? We have it beat? The government is lying? We know better than the experts? All of the above?

I find it interesting/amusing how geographical location influences belief/opinion. Americans tend to be far more suspicious/less trusting of their government than citizens of other developed nations. I have a lot of confidence in the government here and think they do a fine job most of the time.
Well when you're a hat, you're not required to question or make any decisions. Your job is to go along with the program :officer:

Nice deflection Comrade. But you never addressed my question. What program? The one where people prosper and thrive as a nation, together?
I should be against this? Should more nations follow the lead of the USA and perpetually fight with each other over politics while constantly being angry?

Selfishness seems to be a virtue in the land of the free. In most countries (like Canada) people and communities try and work together. Co-operation is a good thing IMO - WAL.

The US could learn a thing or two from other nations. Arrogance is one of Americas worst qualities and it hinders progress.

Your implication that Canadians are somehow better than the cooky Americans is not warranted. Yeah, Americans know to question everything. They realize that if they go off the rails nobody's coming to save them.Perhaps you have a better safety net.
It's a little lame for yous guys to disparage the Americans when you are ultimately beneficiaries of (and support) all the evil shit that has to be done to preserve empire.
I for one am proud that we have people who question and resist. Even when that seems off-puting to the obedient masses

I'm saying many countries do some things better than the USA (including Canada) There is no implication Canadians are better but I do agree most Yanks are kooky. I dunno why Americans are so sensitive about not being as great as they think (and are told) they are. Outside of the US the beliefs are quite different.

I understand the Americans questioning everything aspect, but it doesn't end there and with regard to Covid not only are people questioning the scientists and doctors they are making medical advice and established practices a political thing.

They also seem to think they know better than the experts which baffles my mind. The general public seems to have all the answers.

Questioning everything is fine I guess but there may be a time when its best to accept the answer instead of endlessly questioning to get the answer you would like to hear. When you question everything and are never satisfied with the answer it becomes insanity.
ie 2+2 = 4 or does it? Accept no answer is our motto.

I'm saying pick your spots.

I don't get this homogeneous view of "experts". There are different experts with different views. Decent thinking people expect a debate.
People realize that what's often pushed on us is agenda driven. And when msm creates a hysteria of fear, produces talking heads who seem to focus on one aspect of a problem, are inconsistent, and do not engage in substantive debate, they most definitely should be questioned, if not descreditid altogether.
Plenty of experts who will justify leading us into endless war, taking away our basic rights etc.

With regard to Covid the "experts" I'm referring to are those that have studied and have university degrees in medicine and science etc.
It is not a view, they are experts in the field and are officially recognized as such. If we can't agree on this then there really is no point going further.

How are you or I able to discredit someone that knows infinitely more on the subject than us?
By repeating something we heard or read on the internet?
Reno tell me something about the Russian language pal, I'll question everything you say because I know more than you about it and am vastly more qualified and my beliefs superior.

The bolded part is stuff I hear from Americans all the time. Repeated ad nauseum. Seems like paranoia.

Let me know when they take away your guns. The founding fathers wanted everyone to have guns, and own slaves, and deny women the right to vote.

Selective questioning. Few seem to question the right to have automatic weapons in a suburban home.

I don't know what exactly you think these experts are saying that is being wrongly questioned. People legitimately question whether shutting down their lives is worth the perceived benefit of lowering ones chances of catching virus. That's a fair debate.
I don't know of an expert on all aspects related to such question. People can and should form their own opinions, based on their situation and understanding. What a good expert and debate can do, is shed some light on what risks we're dealing with here.
I agree the thing has been politicized, and the analysis of whatever experts has been vague, inconsistent, and lacking in insight. That only makes people more confused and less trusting.

Personally I don't care about gun rights, but I do care about lack of physical interaction, not being able to do activities I find crucial to my health.
I don't like giving more power over my own life to some authority that can use it against me, etc

Its not so much that its wrongly questioned, its that the answers never seem to be accepted, no matter what.
Also, the fact a doctors job is to save lives and do no harm means they see things differently. A small business person suffering financially has a much different perspective and opinion obviously. Plus the fact this is the first pandemic experience for many of them and mistakes have and will be made as the situation is fluid.

What amount of death is acceptable when it can be prevented with strict and unpleasant measures? For many it seems that as long as its not them or their family members dying the number is ok.

All said I'm just a spectator, hoping that I don't suffer should I get Covid. I also prefer to support those working in the medical field when i can.

In 2019 when the NBA season finished I stopped gambling. The plan was to take 6 months off from chasing numbers and just chill to avoid burn out. Then the pandemic started and it just extended that time. I didn't suffer at all with the lockdown, I was already slacking around doing nothing. Maybe because I am alone and don't have to worry much on others, maybe because I am not dependent on a 9-5 job, and maybe because I was renting a house with a big yard and not stuck in an apartment. Psychologically it was just a chill time. I saw some people get really hammered mentally from the lockdowns and uncertainty. Ignorance and propaganda didn't help them but to me it was just a respiratory disease, there was nothing extraordinary on how to try avoid getting it. I felt wary not knowing how wide a magnitude the outbreak was going to be and I felt sad knowing how much worse it was in other poor countries that I've been in with their non-existing medical infrastructure or government support. And I felt sad with the first death of the husband of a person I knew. I think that was a peak moment psychologically for me. Then it was just a matter of waiting it out. I thought it was amazing when scientists from the US and France took control of the ebola situation after the 2014 outbreak in a relatively short time. And now it's equally amazing that scientists have developed a vaccine for this virus in a year's time. Whoever denies the vaccine prevention for whatever x reason is a stupid and dumb fuck and deserves to die grasping for air from flooded lungs. These are the type of people that should be enslaved and we shall profit from them. Now Covid-19 is not even on my mental real estate day to day, it helps that I don't watch the entertainment news, now it's time to start gamblin' and rackets, game on game live.

oh my goodness

I had covid last June. Had runny nose for a few days then no taste or smell for a few days. No complications since. Have felt pretty invincible for awhile and took advantage of travel deals to Vegas and Atlantic City pretty much once a month since September. I encourage those at risk or afraid of it to get vaccinated but have not decided if I will have it unless I have to in order to travel. I'm open to learning more to make informed decisions for my family.
