Probably only one Habs fan here, but Markov signed to a 3 year deal which is basically an extension. Same salary as this year.

The Habs had to get this deal done. He gets the term that he wanted. Likely could have gotten the same with any team in the NHL. Both sides knew this. This is going to be a crazy weak in the NHL for trades, movement, signings. Draft is on Friday. I think in Philly.
