A batter hit with a fastball hurts much more than a skater blocking a slap shot

Essentially speed and mass and thus force are the same. Puck has more applied force due.to hardness but only slightly (a baseball is pretty hard) while a baseball has a slight edge on the surface of applied force - a sphere applies preasure at a single point where a flat edge of a puck almost always applies pressure across a plane disburssing the force. Add on top of it pads and its really no contest.

Im writing mythbusters to have them confirm.

A sphere is all edges, actually its all points. The rim of a puck would also be a point, in that instance the disbursement of force is equal and the puck has more force applied because of the slightly greater hardness.

Yes a puck rim on bare skin will apply more force than a fastball on bare skin. Im sure in actuality a puck rarely (approaching never) strikes perfectly on the rim. And then there are the pads.
