The more sub categories or "requirements" they tend to desire in a potential suitor the smaller that pool of potential suitors becomes and thus their chance of finding a mutually agreeable partner becomes diminished??

Its simple numbers people.

The more qualities one requires in a potential partner then the less chance they have to finding that someone due to limited number of people that fit those pre-requisites...

Anyone think any differently??

Here is the problem with your statement.

When you eliminate your requirements, you are also watering down the term "mutually agreeable"

Yeah, I can agree to sign a 1 year contract for $5,000,000 even though I was asking (and feel like I deserved) 3 years @8,000,000 per.

Doesn't mean I am going to be happy with it.

I'll just continue to play hard and hope some other team finds me more worthy next year.

This is what people in relationships do when they decide to "lower" their standards.
 
In my limited experience, working with a mental list of requirements - especially in reaction to a previous, failed relationship - is a recipe for disappointment, if not disaster.

Go with the flow.

That's my problem. I have all these requirements and sub-categories. I keep telling myself I won't date someone who is hateful, humorless, morbidly obese and/or dumb-as-a-sack-of-hammers.

This thread has made me see I am just screwing myself over potential suitor-wise. If I changed my attitude, I could have a "mutually agreeable partner," by the middle of next week (if someone could just quickly change the defintion of "mutually agreeable partner," to "someone I find vile and repulsive that I wouldn't want to be in the same room with for 5 minutes.")

I get it now. I just needed to see the math.


Damn me and my requirements and sub-categories.

My soon-to-be-wife believes in God. Guess how often that comes up in daily conversation.

You don't have to fok a fattie if you don't want to. My point is, these fabricated checklists can easily make you go for a sub-optimal mate. You're trying to apply a rational grid to what is a decidedly irrational process (loving/partnering/fokking/reproducing).
