Matty, I agree! Today's world is all fuked up! It's more what you say than what you do that gets you in trouble! How many ethnic jokes did me and my friends go back and forth with when I was younger! If you're going to get in trouble for talking wrong than killing someone should mean automatic death penalty!
 
The point is that Twitter is 100% public. Tweeting "Haha, I hope I don't get AIDS in Africa. Just kidding, I'm white!" is like storming the stage during a big, random convention and saying the same thing out of the blue. It's cringe-worthy at best. It's gonna get you kicked out of anywhere.

She really should've known better.

She still should've known better. She looks like your typical privileged white brat. People couldn't guess the extent of her sarcasm, and they/we did jump to conclusions. That was 100% predictable.

So she's the victim of the very "hipster racism" that she was accused of. Whatevs.

You're a PR person, you know better. Or you don't and you get canned from the Internet.

She definitely should have realized what the reaction could be, I agree. 100% predictable, I agree.

But I think that the complete inability of people to understand the intent of the tweet says more about the people than the tweet says about Sacco.
