I vote Wildfire by Martin Micheal Murphy....old song from 70s but fok it is sad. Could hardly stand to listen to it when I was young.

Hell I don't even know what it means but a horse that dies in a blizzard is sad enough for me.

Also hate Cat's in the cradle.

You guys have no idea what these songs are do you ? lmfao.

Why wouldn't we know those songs? What kind of mugwumps do you think we are?

I would have to give some thought to a genuinely, thoughtfully sad song to talk about. Certainly one of the most absurdly, ridiculously, over-the-top sad songs of all time is Seasons in the Sun.

On a serious and sincere note, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald comes to mind. It is a legitimately sad song, although for me it is also mixed up with poignancy regarding Gordon Lightfoot and the happy, innocent, lost time of my life when I was introduced to his music.

I do love me some Ode to Billie Joe......

MC...I just meant that a lot of posters here seem like they would be too young to remember some of those songs...Do you really think Caligirl or Blitty know Wildfire? My money is on no. Maybe Cats in the Cradle though...

I was just being playful with my comment. I would guess the young peeps would know those songs though. Like Wildfire still turns up here and there. It was on an episode of The Simpsons 'n shit.

I just heard Cats in the Cradle at the grocery store a few days ago.

Well I dunno. Maybe not. Guess I would have to let them speak for themselves on the matter.

Blitty..you ever hear the song Wildfire?

Btw, I am very musically diverse.....Minor Threat to Tim McGraw but I go thru periods of really being nostalgic and wanting to listen solely to 70s music.
