Not sure what the deal is but we have to reset our router basically every 2 hours because it disconnects. I've taken it as a part of life but when we work on the internet it's extremely frustrating. We had another router that one day just didn't connect at all. The obvious answer would be crappy routers but I'm thinking maybe something else could be up? If anything help out for Cami she has enough of a task putting up with my insanity nevermind connectivity insanity.

that makes more sense than a cable connection getting chucked.

may be a problem with the line. before you blame the router you should contact your provider and have them verify that your signal strength is good and the problem isn't the phone line or a problem on their end.

sometimes resetting the dsl modem will solve the problem.

Make sure that there are no shorts in the cable. If you are using any 2 into 1 adapters, make sure that they are not shorting out. Also make sure that you have DSL filters on any other phones in your house. It sounds to me like a cable is becoming unconnected and that the router is having to reset. Another cause of this can be your power supply to the router. Check the big adapter that plugs into the wall(feel it to see if it is really hot, or look to see if it has melted)

My guess is that it is a crappy phone line connection somewhere in there.

Not much around it, no other phones in the house we use cells for everything. It's weird though, it's basically religiously every 2 hours, almost like it's an exact amount of time. I wonder if Wally is messing with us? He's got all of those RC devices maybe he hooked something up while we were out.

Let offer some clarity here. What we have is a Netgear wireless router, this wireless router is connected to the modem/router for the internet. It is not the internet itself we are having a problem, the problem is the wireless router losing the connection to the internet every two hours like clockwork. All the ethernet cables were new when this was installed a couple years ago. So what we have to do, is every time it loses connection, we have to reset the wireless router. Oh, and the Internet modem thing sits on the floor under my desk, and the wireless router on top of the desk, nothing around it and it doesn't ever feel hot to the touch. None of the modems and things in this house get moved, ever. They get installed and stay there.
