Moved to Windsor Ontario on Tuesday. Detroit skyline in my fukkin face every time I look north.

Windsor is a shell of it's former self, real estate prices and rents are dirt cheap.
It's $44 and 4 hour commute to Toronto on the Via Rail train.

The stench of Detroit wafts across the river into my beloved country.

Saskatchewan is on hold until at least late summer. Gotta get setup in Windsor and take care of some bizness first.

Watching Detroit network TV the first thing a Canuck like me realizes is there are ALOT of fukkin ambulance chaser commercials.

:usa:

Detroit radio stations are decent (in between commercial breaks of course), and there are plenty of stations on the dial both from Windsor and Detroit.

I'm pretty sure WestJet has direct flights from Windsor to Winnipeg.
The plan is to maintain a residence in Windsor (cause it's cheep, and convenient) and work in western Canada.

Apparently Windsor is "sin city" for Michigan/Ohio based Americans that wish to enjoy freedoms unavailable in the Land of the Free.

There is a sizeable hooker/stripper population in Windsor, and the drinking age is 19, compared to 21 in Americuh.

Good job Plommer! Slowly working your way into the US! Looking like a better chance of seeing a Tiger than Jays celebration anyway!

City is split between Detroit/Toronto fans for both hockey and baseball.

I could never cheer for any team not from Toronto. Ever.

Leafs are poised to make the playoffs for the first time in a long time while Detroit faces not making the playoffs for the first time in over two decades.

Go Leafs Go! (fukk you Matty Rain and Mudcat, you Hab loving fukks - you die alone)

PS: Tim Horton's locations in Windsor are just as busy or busier than every other location in Canada.

I believe Teela loves the Habs?? I think I heard that. I do not.

I am indifferent to everyone except the Leafs whom I actively dislike due to their longterm, obnoxious presence in my life.

I have a weak temporary fandom for the Penguins at the moment. That's about it.

The Leafs are not an obnoxious presence in anyone's life.
There are some obnoxious and annoying Leaf fans, this is true.

It's all about cheering for the HOMETEAM, you fukk.

My hometeam is the blue and white.

I would LOVE for the Leafs to face the Canadiens in the first round.
I don't think the Habs want any part of Les Maple Leafs du Toronto.

Plommer, late at night can you hear the gunshots coming from the upper east and central west part of Detroit?

They average about 1.2 homicides a day, pal.

Rock on

:rideem:

Some interesting stats out of Detroit no doubt.

Daft, I do not know if you have ever been to Detroit or Windsor but the contrast between communities along the US/Canada border is noticeable.

People that have never visited both sides of a border town may find it difficult to believe how different the communities are.

Generally speaking, the US side is far dirtier, and poverty much more noticeable than on the Canadian side, crime is also much less prevalent on the Canadian side, especially violent crime such as murder.

Windsor had a grand total of ONE murder in 2011. One.

Population of Windsor is near 300k, while Detroit is at least twice the size.

Windsor is not a dangerous place, not at all. The same can't be said for Detroit.

http://blogs.windsorstar.com/2012/1...and-detroit-murder-rates-show-stark-contrast/

(Per capita) Winnipeg is the murder capital of Canada with 39 murders in 2011, population of the 'Peg is 1 million.

Room for expansion.

Don't die plommerballs.

"Detroit is 83% African American and Windsor is 4%."

American negroes don't have passports.
I like my chances, pal.

Matty, there are no blacks in Windsor, which means I will never hear the phrase "you know what I'm sayin?"

There is definitely a difference in speech between Michiganders and Ontarians, a Canadian can tell if a person is from Michigan just from hearing them tawk. At least I can.
I'm sure my accent outs (oots) me as a Canuck.

PS: During slow times Windsor homicide detectives are often assigned temporarily to the parking enforcement dept of the Windsor Police service - they gotta earn their keep.
