Who is Shantystar and what's the big deal?

I finally got around to reading this thread. It's been all the buzz around the homestead.

When I see a RogueScholar post, I always read it. And when I say I read it, I mean that I read every word. I don't do that with most posters, because, as entertaining as most of you are, it does involve a lot of the same inside jokes over and over. Skimming gets the job done. I don't feel as strongly as RS does about the wasted potential and such, but I'm glad that he feels that way. It makes him an interesting person and a great writer.

I've never found shanty particularly entertaining.

However, I do enjoy seeing reno take such pleasure in reading shanty, so he's okay with me.

And lastly, I am a vegetarian, but I consider hunting much more ethical than most animal husbandry in this country. If the meat at the grocery store was from hunted game, I'd seriously consider eating it.

I don't think raising livestock for meat is inherently wrong, either, but in a capitalistic society, it inevitably results what I would consider unethical behavior.

Agreed. If others do, so be it.

Well of course I wasn't talking about you, Matt Rain. Or you, Bread.

Wow MrX, that's about one of the nicest things anybody has ever said to me, IRL or on a forum. Thanks for your support, and more importantly, for taking the time to read what I post. When I sit down at GL, I want to post something that will give back to all of you at least a fraction of the enjoyment I get from being part of this group. Sadly I don't have a gift for humour or intrigue, but I can write, so when I post I try to make it something worth your time.

Does anyone know yet?

OK I promised my priest to come clean. It was me that was shantystar. This is the last statement I'm making regarding this matter.

I wonder if Mr X and Scholar keep in touch. Two very valuable posters gone by the wayside.

Wow, what a great thread this was. Good bump Blitty.

Now I'm kind of sad, I feel like we had so many great threads back then. Didn't even realize what a drop in quality we've experienced (no offense)

Remember how many Shantyisms were used as signatures? Good stuff.

:lmao: at Devil Woman quoting that awesome Shanty line, asking if it was now considered poetry.
