Actually I watched zero election coverage but I don't disagree with your assessment, I have not been wearing my tin foil hat as much as I should recently and I'm certain the US government has been sending radio waves to my brain to influence me.

I was with my ex when we got Muddy (a female). She was really supposed to be a cuddly little girlfriend for my ex - that was the idea - but the cat chose me. It was blatant. A less grounded person could almost have found it cruel in the bald favoritism. I mean, she wasn't actually hostile to my ex but I was so clearly her person of choice.

When I split there was no question that the cat would go with me.

Of all the cats I've had or known the most affectionate ones were (neutered) males, not even close.

My (spayed) female cat was affectionate but nowhere near as needy as the (neutered) male.
