Seems as though the job market for lawyers changed dramatically over a relatively short period of time.

Do most law students expect to practice and work towards partnership at some big firm?

Isn't it customary for schools to show overall employment stats regardless of the type of job held?

I dated a law student who never practiced and went on to join the Red Cross as some kind of international relations program manager. She got in thanks to her law degree but it's not a legal-type job and the pay is mediocre. Is she the type of person that law students want out of the employment stats?

Questions, I gots them.

I don't think is lawyers suing lawyers. It's lawyers representing graduate students who are not lawyers yet suing the schools these graduates attended.

My opinion is the school is not responsible to find you a job after you graduate. It's a free market and you are on your own once you get your diploma.

I would agree with this but it sounds here as though the school may have been pimping itself with these slightly optimistic employment stats.

I shake my head at people who consider a degree to be a job voucher, but I reckon that I didn't have to pay ridiculously high US tuition either.

I never borrowed money to get an education. I was given a certain amount of money to pursue an education by my parents. My brothers got the same amount of money and chose to start their own businesses. Not being in debt is the best feeling in the world. Then you have to make sure you don't live beyond your means. If your income doesn't justify the house or apartment you live in you will get in debt. Drive a car, buy clothes, eat out at places you can afford without getting in debt. The car will take you from point A to point B regardless of how much it costs and the food you eat out as long as is healthy should not cost you more than a day's paycheck.
