haha i wish - i did make between $300-$500 a night plus tips dealing hold em for a group of desi guys back in '92 -94... had to wear a corset, leather hot pants and fishnets... that's how I learned to play poker... they even paid another girl just to be the food and bevvie server... pretty crazy for Westfort (plommy will know)

sad but i can't even remember what one truckstop in tbay looks like anymore or if we even had them... i remember ryden's at the us/can border but that's it

I wouldn't so much harp on the disease aspect. I would explain the concept of expected value early on. And if the kid started having bad ideas, I would explain why they sucked. :dunno: Not that it would assure anything, but I think usually people get in really deep when they erroneously believe they can beat something.

Expected value and variance, the latter being grossly underestimated by most.

The thing that worries is that I had some really smart dudes around me. Like the guy who was my 2nd love publishes papers now about General linear methods and numerical integrators which encompass as special cases the linear multistep and Runge-Kutta methods and is a hardcore gambler. And at the time, no matter what he told me, I just couldn't fully grasp it. It was almost like my competitive side took over and I just needed to beat whomever. The other part was the social side. I sat at blackjack and poker tables long after I'd made my money... and then I'd blow it of course. And then often chase.

I don't know. I think I'm a bad example. Extreme. Hopefully Seth doesn't have those genes. It always used to be a family joke about how that was the "uke" side of my family. Fingers crossed it's gone because I was a sicko.

But for real, from my experience I'll say that you can try to teach your kid or whomever advatange angles in gambling but if he has those degenerate genes, even understanding winning concepts, he will most likely be a degenerate. It's like people who can drink and alcoholics.

yeah ok pal, like i could make that shit up. even though i attended many conferences with him and watched him talk i have no clue what that means :lmao:

find me in the sz or email me at sbr.shari gmail and i'll direct you to his stuff. he plays poker and is sickeningly profitable. some of his work has actually helped surgeons when they're cutting into people... instead of just going in, his mathy shit lets them see something on a computer screen to simulate what would happen if they cut wherever... but he's a poker guy, arber at heart
