Canadian men clinch 1st seed at men's World Curling Championships

1996 World champ Jeff Stoughton is sitting at 10-0 with one game left in the round robin and can not be caught for the top playoff spot.

To be clear, Canada has won half the men's World Championships since then, just not Jeff Stoughton.

Stoughton is attempting to become the first to go through the event with an undefeated record since fellow Winnipegger Kerry Burtnyk in 1995.


As everyone no doubt remembers, Kevin Martin won the gold medal for Canada at the Vancouver Olympics going undefeated.

Gold medal game is on today. Canada versus Scotland. Canada has already beat them twice but the Scots are a good rink. Can the Stoughton team sweep a third game?

The question of an undefeated tourney ended when Canada lost its final (meaningless) round robin game. The question today is Gold or Silver.

I'm thinking gold.

It starts at 5 pm local time (7 pm EST).
