This is one of the reasons I'm not a fan of having Russians on my team.

Their level of desire to do what is necessary to win is well below the drive of the local talent.

I don't disagree with Mr Kovalchuk, I understand and would probably do the same thing.

This is why I would never be a great athlete, I just don't give a fuck, and enjoy living in comfort without having to do a whole lot. This is why Canada suits me just fine.


If it were me I'd retire a day after getting my signing bonus as a rookie.

my guess is he wants out of NJ and the only way out is to retire for a year, come back as a UFA. His contract is an albatross. You can't trade him and who the fuck woudl want to play in NJ. That team will SUCK this year.
