Pucky I looked at the Team Canada roster and they hid the fact that 4 players on Team Canada are American born.

I couldn't locate stats that show place of birth, I know Marcus Foligno was born in Buffalo back when his father was a Sabre, apparently the kid grew up in Sudbury.
His brother Nick played for Team USA, apparently just before she died Marcus mother requested he play for team Canada and that is how he ended up on the Canadian roster.

Plommer, it surprises you that the best things Canadian started out American?
Of course.

Wal, my nephew is American born (in Bradenton FL) but has lived in Canada since he was 4 yrs old (he is now 10) and when asked about his citizenship he declares quite loudly that he is Canadian.

Wal we have a running gag where I ask him to recite the pledge of allegiance to the US flag, and he frowns tells me he doesn't know it and lets me know he is a Canadian - like all his friends, his father, his uncle and his grandparents.
He will be an American of convenience if anything. The boy is all Canuck Wal.

I knew Foligno was born in the U.S., but wasn't aware that 3 other players were also born down there as well. Who are they Plommer?
I'm trying to figure it out, but the http://www.hockeycanada.ca/ website will not provide the info, instead of "birthplace" they list "hometown".

I heard the TSN commentators mention the stat, thats what got me curious.

Dylan Olsen was born in the States
I heard that as well. His bio page says he was born in Calgary.

It isn't unusual for teams to have players on the roster that were not born in the country they play for, especially in neighboring countries like the US & Canada.

I know in the Olympics many Canadian born players suit up for the country they have dual citizenship with, Italy, Germany, Switzerland etc.

I'm really curious as to why Hockey Canada is not listing place of birth on player bio pages, they always used to.

Caught the last half of the 3rd period cause I was driving back to Toronto... Kinda shocked that they choked again this year.. It's never good news to go in as a favorite... I take it Canada probably put in a sub-par effort?

I just saw the 'highlights'... From my first viewing it looks like Canada's defence was caught sleeping.

This is a situation where betting against Canada in the bronze medal game can be a good idea. There has been a long-term tendency for Canadian teams - at all levels - hockey and curling as well - to not show up for bronze medal games.
