Have been podcasting lately (I know, who cares) and noticed just how bad my uhs and ums have gotten. I tend to talk fast enough that they don't make me sound like a total idiot, but I'm definitely glad I've made myself aware of it. I find that slowing down my speech, I can knock them all out; just replace them with pauses instead. Going to have to start doing that, not only broadcasting but in my every day life as well.

Any of you have a problem with this that you have overcome / need to overcome?
 
That's certainly something you have to iron out if you want to do it professionally.

Bingo.

Yeah, if I have something prepared, it's seamless; ie if I was reading off of a teleprompter or doing a set piece, it wouldn't matter. But on-the-fly radio type stuff, I fall into bad habits if I'm not careful. Not that I ever expect to do this professionally, but it wouldn't hurt to sharpen up all the same.
