Big deal if you perceive yourself as feeling 'different' to those you see around you...

Someone remind me, what exactly is wrong with that??

Your individuality is what makes you unique and should be embraced instead of being quashed through chemical stimulants that some cockring medical 'professional' (who receive kickbacks through referrals btw) tells you how to feel 'better' about yourself...

In short, fukk the pharmaceutical industry and anyone associated with it for producing generations of people who are unable to feel comfortable in their own skin...

Individual differences should be embraced and not emaciated only to be frowned upon...

That is all..

guy doesn't know what he is talking about

it ain't about being an "individual" or the perception of feeling different that leads many to try psychotropics

sometimes people are different, and they want to put a gun in their mouth.

or they are different because never want to leave their house or bed and they get fired....

or they are different have panic attacks and dread social situations...

there are differences in the differents that different people will deal with

its okay for different people to require psychiatric treatment.

IAG
I am unclear as to which drugs you are referring to. Please elaborate.
IAG im mainly talking about those prescribed drugs that stabilise moods/behaviours.

I hate saying this but it really is all "in our heads"...

As someone with a degree in Psychology i'm more than willing to go on record as stating adversity builds character where there exists a myriad of coping mechanisms that don't involve chemical enhancement fond in a bottle of pills, something I truly believe has been lost on todays generation of human being as its simply too easy to reach for the medicine cabinet to forget one's woes.

I know this is a little off track but in addition over 80% of all drug overdoses are caused through abuse of prescription medication. You cant tell me that's positive for societal function as a whole.

As a example we are seeing the results of this through the quashed resistance and increasing sense of hopelessness we see in todays younger people, one of the reasons we see a increase in the use of prescribed psychoactive stimulants.

I lament this...

Sure pal...

Apparently you've never utilised alternate coping strategies??

Xpy, did you know that plommer recently got put on anti-depressants?
Indeed and that's his choice.

Although the unpredictability and left field antics in the old plommer is what made him truly unique and stand out from other posters.

That edge he once had has all but disappeared (sorry pal call it as I see it)...

But if that's how he felt he could best cope then im not going to lambast the guy for he has the life experience to make a informed decision...

Plommer, next time you see your doc ask him if he'd ever take the same meds...

Good post. :like:

I assume that the %80 of overdoses coming from prescription drugs comment refers to pain medication and benzos rather than anti depressents and mood stabilizers.

Do you believe that narcotic pain medication should be avoided and persons should find coping solutions for their physical pain?

Seems like we just had this conversation in here somewhere...I believe big pharma is bad. Anti depressents are overprescribed. However, there are persons who benefit dramatically from their use. I am for the duration of my isolating caregiving experience , prepared to be a slave to a bottle to aid in my sanity and I won't feel bad about it. Not. one. bit.

When are you saying Plommer lost his edge?

sure, I have and do and I don't believe I'd ever want to take psychotropics.

But as a counselor sometimes that is not enough for "different" people.

we aren't all the same, so we can't expect people to react to life and stress and traumatic effects the same as you perceive you do, correct?

but yeah most of the Medicine is Bull Shit
