Hence, my first comment. A bender to me is being up for three days straight, two eight balls deep, snorting ecstasy, and slamming Belvedere/tonic like it's lifeblood.

First got clean and sober in 1990 but had that big relapse in the middle.

Short answer, yes.

I haven't gone to 12 step programs since the 90's so my circle of AA/NA acquaintances is pretty small now. It basically consists of the guys I have been playing poker with for 20 years and my ex. They all definitely know I'm a gambler.

In terms of my current secular recovery group, all the regulars know. I don't bring it up at meetings but once you start getting to know people a little better, the subject of what you do for a living is bound to come up.
