I go to Vegas a couple times a year. Last year in the summertime for the WSOP i got a Total rewards card from the Rio. Played a little there but not much. Was looking into the prices it would cost me to stay a week at the Rio. On hotels dot com it was like $100 a night average. I log on with my players card and i select a week and it gives me 5 days comped. I change the reservation to 5 days, and it still shows 5 nights comped. So i book those 5 days. Mind you i have the lowest tier of card and no points on the card since they have all since expired. So a week later i want to see if i can reserve some other dates. I can stay 5 days during the Christmas and new years weekend all free. I pulled up the availability dates and it shows i have comps everyday next year. No blackout days. My friend who also got a Rio card last year said he didn't have any offers like me. I guess its a mistake and im not going to go crazy and book every week i can since i wont be going up there that often but I'm pretty physched that i will get 10 days of the 2 weeks i planned to stay in Vegas during the summertime comped.

The people i know that get comped 5 nights during new years are people that bet 500 blackjack hands for hours.

I used to get almost everything comped at the Imperial Palace playing $50 - $100 a hand Pai Gow Poker.

That was 1998 and it was a dump back then too.

Your comps are probably not a mistake. If you show up as a new player and run a good amount of coin through a machine in a day you will get good offers. If you stay 5 days and don't play much your future offers will quickly disappear. Your best bet is to not use your card there at all on your 5 day visit.

I like the Rio for off-strip casinos. The free shuttle to Paris/Ballys is nice.
