Cami the guys I see on Wimbledon are dressed like they are going to church. Are you sure about short khakis?

Chances are it will be hot, do you want to be comfy or fit in?
If this is the case then wear some slacks I suppose, but if your going to be out in the heat, I think that is just stupid, I mean if chicks can wear sun dress's why can't guys wear shorts to an event?

I was unaware of the fact that they actually get dressy, so if this is the case, go with slacks, sneaks, and a casual shirt.
Think business casual....

Just wear something comfortable but nice like Cami suggests but nothing slobbish. You may run into Brooklyn Decker and her hubby Roddick is not doing too well this year, you want to look your best. Wimbledon is a whole different world in weather, but its the south and everyone will be pretty preppy there I would imagine. It looks like you may have some rain at times, who are you going to see Saulty?

Isner is a Georgia boy but Fish is not playing in the Olympics this year and has never lost here. Isners stats are incredible here on aces, the guy just unloads but for some people its not always fun tennis to watch unless you love watching aces. I loved watching Isner unload last year at Newport though, he had ace numbers in the 30s the last few years here in georgia and is a huge fan favorite.

I have futures on Fish and Isner here. This Baker kid should be fun to watch, a Tennessee kid making a pretty incredible return to tennis. Malisse has done well here, Roddick has never entered this tourney much. Maybe Nishi, but I really think it will be Fish or Isner again.

Greg I'm going to go on Friday so I can see the quarter-finals that are between 1-7 pm ET. Not sure who will be left at that point.

Thanks for the tennis picks. I have been tailing most of your picks the last couple weeks and you know your tennis. Keep up the good work!

I noticed that guys who have to fly transatlantic flights on short time after their last game do poorly on their first match. Is this typical?

P.S. Cali I was just pulling your leg. :smooch:

Have fun Pavy. That Atlantic Station sounds like a really cool area. A whole mixed use area in the heart of downtown, I have never seen a tennis event take place right in the heart of downtown in an area like Atlantic station. Very cool

As far as players traveling, to cap tennis , social media is probably one of the most important things you can use to find out how a player is feeling. Twitter, sites, even newspaper articles. I rarely rely on forums, tennis insight is one of the worst for misinformation. I saw numerous comments about how Lepchenko was having shoulder problems and I just googled an interview yesterday where she talked with a San Diego paper yesterday and she said she felt great. She went out and just dominated Gibbs.

People dont bother reading enough about this stuff and just go on word of mouth on those forums. I always try and find out about stuff like fatigue, injuries etc., with social media, these kids and players today will tell you everything about themselves no matter how mundane on twitter or their sites. LOL

Yeah social media is a great tool for tennis. U.Radwanska tweet from today: "Drink milk..I'll be fine". Obviously she is not feeling very well so I bet Hantuchova who was at the ESPY's the last couple days having fun.

I noticed that Bogomolov lost to Cilic at midnight early morning on Sunday in Croatia and then he had to take several flights to be in Atlanta for his afternoon game to Sock and he looked bad. He played less than 48 hrs after his last game and with 14-16 hrs of flight time between.

Uh Oh. That "Pij mleko! będziesz Wielki" tweet was from a year ago. My online polish translator had it as

"It drink milk! You will be great ”

LOL.

Great call on Sock. Can you believe Young is in the olympics over him and guys like Querrey and Baker.

Have you been to that atlantic station? That should be interesting to watch matches there, I have been streaming it today. It seems like it is in the middle of alot of stuff. If I were a player I would be hitting the downtown bars afterwards and lose. They are all right there downtown

Atlantic Station is a great area. It's in midtown. It used to be an old railroad yard and they rebuild it to mixed use with shops and condos. They do beach volley there in addition to the tennis tourney. It's like next to Georgia Tech than downtown. We go there for dining and shopping. You will love it there. Looking forward to go there on Friday. Hopefully it won't rain.

When it comes to luring a tournament to town, it helps when the mayor is a big tennis fan.

At least it helped the new partners in Atlantic Station decide that tennis in the city was something they should take seriously.
The result is the BB&T Atlanta Open, which runs from July 14 to July 22 on six courts in the former steel mill, now a mixed-use property just off 17th Street in Midtown.

The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tournament is sanctioned by the United States Tennis Associations (USTA) Southern region and features many of the worlds top players.

It is the third year the professional tennis event has taken place in the Atlanta region, but the first time it has been situated downtown.
I dont know if Ive ever been on the court and looked up and saw the city skyline, said player Tim Smyczek, who played in the tournament when it was held north of downtown in a more rural setting.

When I heard they were going to do this in this area, I thought this is going to be interesting, being right in the middle of the city, Smyczek said.

Part of what makes this unique is that its an outdoor event in the middle of the city, said tournament director Bob Bryant. Typically the only real estate available for tennis is going to be in an arena somewhere downtown.
