The union is there to take 3% of your paycheck and then protect you from nothing.

It, therefore, MUST be rampant.

Had I mentioned a YouTube video of a rogue cop everyone but Daft could be on board.
You don't want to watch the video no problem. I haven't once said there aren't other contributing factor and maybe even greater problems at the forefront but it should take away that there are problems within the system and that is something that could be fixed.
I will contend that the children featured situations might be in the minority but that doesn't mean it doesn't reflect a problem even if it is a small problem Focker.
I will also contend that the founders of Charter schools are painted in a glowing light and I'm sure if investigated there would be not so shiny.
There is plenty of blame to spread around and the resounding opinion of GameLive seems to be as long as one thing is more to blame no need to concern ourselves with anything else.
People die at the hands of corrupt policework. Parents have a responsibility to ensure that their children get a proper education. That's a fairly significant difference. Most parents don't give a fuck. I'll tell you what, if my kid had a teacher that was unwilling to do their job, you can bet your ass that I'd be down there raising Hell. I'm not sure what system that you're proposing that could possibly serve better than personal accountability.
That's admirable Kato but what happens when zoning restrictions doesn't allow your child to attend a different school unless you move? What happens when due to overcrowding or limited admissions your child isn't accepted at a different school in your area? Maybe you can afford to uproot, leave your job and relocate so to afford your child a better opportunity but what about those that can't?
Why should everyone and everything else have to change if the problem is the school or specific teachers?

In any industry, you will find "good" and "bad" workers. According to the argument that started this thread, unions are designed to protect the bad workers. What about the "bad" parents that don't come to parent meetings, do not make their kids do homework, and instill the notion that school is bad because they had a bad experience with it?
A friend of mine was falsely accused of making terroristic threats toward a co-worker, which was heard "through the grapevine" and not firsthand. He was put on leave without pay for over a month. Maybe he should have told them that unions fight for pay for sexual and physical offenders. I'm sure that would have been effective.
