One of the greatest players of all time, played on the best team ever. As much as I loved Valeri Kharlamov (my avatar), grew up watching the teams of the 70's I'd have to say's the 80's national team was even better.
One of the all-time scariest guys to be up against. That KLM line with Kasatonov and Fetisov on defense - man when they were on the ice against Team Canada - it was a nauseous feeling.
As for Krutov specifically - great skills and defensively responsible and built solid as a rock. One of the best of all-time.
I guess I never gave it much thought. If you just focus on NHL accomplishments, it makes sense but if you talk about Hockey Hall of Fame - Krutov seems like a no-brainer selection to me. I don't know about numbers but the guy was just fucking deadly out there. That 5-man unit was a devastating thing of historic proportion and Krutov was not just a passenger.
