I was reminded of that expression by a random guy met at a bus stop in Whistler last weekend - he told two other French Montrealers that he was one. I told him I knew he was a tte carre cause no one but ttes carres call themselves ttes carres.

"So true, but French girls fall for it every time."

:biglaugh: I bet they do.

This is kind of a silly question. Would you like for the coach of your pro sports team to not speak English, the language of the majority?

No one would be silly enough to hire such a coach, right?

Well Quebec has ~5 million French speakers. And we're annoying assholes. So yes, it is a big deal.

I just don't get why people are going crazy over an interim coach. First priority was to kick Martin out. Done and done. Chill the fok out.

I guess a non French speaking coach in Montreal would be akin to having a non English speaking Japanese guy coaching the Yankees. It would be a tough fit in a city that needs a high profile coach. A coach that cannot speak to it's fan base hurts the product IMO.

Horribly written article just from a spelling and grammar standpoint... but it's not hard to see why Gauthier came out and flippity flopped. The team's in the shitter as it is. Pile on the English speaking guy and maybe everything will be fixed next yr.

Bad idea hiring a non Frenchie for Montreal anyway. Not sure who came up with that brain wave. Not one Francophone available to coach until you find a perm guy?
