As far as the car goes, it looks like I am just paying labour. So that is more like 1K instead of 3K (or the 4K of the very first estimate).

Glad it's not so much obviously, but I also see a strong case for me paying nothing. But then I see a case for them saying no, you chose not to get the extended warranty so tough shit.

Don't know how to feel.

Just gotta move forward.

1K is a lot better buddy if that's the best they can do! What year is the car again?

The car is '06. Got it new in April 2006.

It's not just any car. Gamelive people have been transported in that car.

Muddy, the car looks so good like it just came off the showroom! JMO again but the hell with looking at it from their end that you should have bought the extended warranty. An engine just shouldn't blow up with that low of mileage! Did the oil changes and service take place at the dealer you bought it at?

MrM, MrsM sure is pretty and obviously on your mind as Mudcats cars engine is fine, it's the transmission that is the problem.

nice skim reading pal.

Common.

I got service at the dealer where I bought it at the start, but that dealership went out of business after a couple years so I went to this other dealer (where it is currently staying). I also had an oil change or two at the local Midas (or whatever it is) down the road.

I think of engine and tranny kinda of the same thing! No doubt where you travel a tranny isn't even in the ballpark of an engine! TY Plommer and please don't hesitate again to help me out!

Guess you really can't put a lot of pressure on this dealer but more on the manufacturer but still they sell that car so the dealer doesn't want bad publicity bout his product! Maybe if you put the 1K out you can work something out with the manuf. through the dealer that you get some kind of extended warranty free of charge on just if the tranny goes again!

I routinely buy cars at about 90k miles and run them up to 150k. Never had transmission problems or burned out a clutch. (at the risk of jinxing myself) But then again I don't buy Chevys. Still, that's ridiculous. I wonder if lack of use could have that much to do with it. :dunno: You'd think that would still be covered under the drive train warranty.

I don't make any cash. Just use them for 60k miles and junk them or sell them cheap after wards. It seems to me that is a good area mileage wise. You can get a dependable car fairly cheap if you stick to good brands. And others still buy cars with 150k on them :dunno: something I wouldn't do.
