I played hockey for the first time in 8 years on Monday night and I was the only player (like Spezza) who used a wooden stick. Had most of my gear from the 80's as well. Well knee, shoulder and elbow pads. The guys marveled at my Brendan Shanahan style shoulder pads. They were highly impressed. I never, ever shot a puck with a non-wooden hockey stick. EVER!!!

Wooden sticks are awesome. You can still buy Sherwood P.M.P sticks. That's how popular those sticks were. Very trusty.
