Using a shootout seems strange to me for Olympic hockey for the few games played with every game so very important!

Stupid rule indeed especially when the goalie pretty much knocked it off himself.

Agree. The rule probably should be if the US knocks the goal off while Russia is shooting, the shot result counts. The shooting team shouldn't be penalized (loss of goal) because of the US actions. If the shooter misses, then call the delay of game.

Based on that rule, any goalie can slide across his crease while getting blasted from all angles, knock the net off which will negate any goal. It's a silly rule. I can see if the attacking team knocked it off, but this wasn't the case. It's too bad. It was a cannon of a shot and a beautiful goal.
