most everyone loves cye, but it will always be a show that is hit or miss to me...while some eps. are highly entertaining, others are so fucking annoying that it makes me not watch again for a while...same thing with seinfeld...if its not making me fall out of the chair its making me want to punch the tv... some people find overly annoying people to be funny...i just find them to be overly annoying...but i try to watch sometimes, jello..honest i do

a lot of good tv coming out of uk/australia these days... ... cant wait for the handful of shows i like to start back...

fwiw, that mackenzie crook dude really cracks me the fuck up on the office uk... gervais, not so much.

If you've ever seen the British Office you would understand. Or Extras on HBO.

Seen his standup. Sucked. Strike 1.

Saw that movie where he invented lying. Atrocious. Strike 2.

Watched that roundtable special on HBO where he's talking about what's funny with Rock, Seinfeld, and CK. Was like having Marco Scutaro discussing the nuances of hitting with Ted Williams, Babe Ruth, and Mickey Mantle. If he wants to come off as someone who's funny, a panel of Gervais debating with Dane Cook, Pauly Shore, and Jay Leno would be more fitting. Strike 3.

Oh yeah, and that fucking accent. Strike 72. Sit the fuck down, Gervais.

he has a pretty damn funny supporting cast on the office uk... they made him and the show imo... steve carell is fucking horrible as well, but of all the people on the office u.s, he got all the notoriety ...same thing.

Paging Taco.

Need the British opinion on this matter.

I have discussed Ricky Gervais with taco a bit before. My opinion is that I find him (Gervais) very funny being interviewed and I like his stand-up that I have seen, but on shows like The Office and Extras he is very weak and I lost interest in both shows after about 1 episode.

Taco basically feels that I am fokked in the head and sees it exactly the opposite. He likes the shows a lot but not Gervais being himself.

A little too much hit or miss lately imo.The truly great episodes make weeding through the bad ones worth it though.

The Israile chicken episode was an instant classic but the last 2 episodes felt like a waste to me. For some reason the whole production of the last two episodes just felt off to me.

I agree with Taco. I thought Gervais' stadup was OK. His sitting around talking isn't that great.

He was absolutely brilliant in The Office and even moreso in Extras, imo. I loved Extras. Loved loved loved it.

I think he's really just a fantastic comedic writer and actor. He's not all that funny off script though.
