I watch it and shows like it at the gym... .just got back from watching swamp loggers or somthing

Wal, find the IRT show where there are 3 of them in India or some place, driving the most dangerous roads in the world..

the one beardy guy..... I think his name is alex? he quits after 1 day...

its scary stuff

Yeah the India series was pretty far out. I mean the ice roads are hazardous but that mountain road in India is off the charts scary. The Alabama redneck was ready to regulate though.

Everytime I see that guy Hugh Roland I think of Plommer.

If you haven't watched it yet watch Swamp People. It's all about Louisiana alligator hunters.

I started the first episode of swamp people... but got distracted...

yeah HUGH... he reminds me of plommer too... I think that is the guy

is he the one that would get pissed at everyone passing on blind curves and finally shut the truck down and bought candy for little indian kids?

nevermind I remember hugh is the bigger beefier guy

Wal, I've never been that far north, and if given the chance I'd give it a shot, why not?

Having said that, I am not searching for that type of gig, I'm fairly certain I'll be staying here for a little while.

I do watch Ice Road truckers, and swamp people and a new one about crop dusters in Saskatchewan.

Arch, that's Axe People or whatever it's called and they added the section about the swamp loggers. It's a bad representation of some Florida people but an accurate portrayal.

Pavy, I have relatives that fit the what you are seeing when you watch these shows. You think I'm bad with computer things, you should see my people with practically all things.

Plommer it sounds like those guys can make in 2 months as much or mare than the great pay you are making now for a full year.

I have learned though that northern Canadians aren't too fond of Southern Canadians. Toronto people don't like Montreal people, French Canadians don't like Canadian Canadian's, you guys are a very segregated lot.

Yeah, somewhat accurate, Canadians love to bitch/complain about other Canadians, in reality we get along well.
(I am getting nothing but love here from my new Saskatchewan buddies)

Wal, as for wages, maybe I could earn more up there but I got paid today and saw over $800 in deductiions were taken from my cheque (for a two week pay period) - $600 in Federal tax, the rest of the deductions were for Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Plan etc.

Earning more doesn't equal keeping more.

Yeah, I get close to $900 a pay period deducted in taxes, medical and the sort. Well $175 of that is extra I send in on FICA so I get a decent return at the end of the year though. Those deductions will soon increase though because not only are we now gonna have to contribute 3% to our pension it looks like we'll have to start paying 50% of our insurance.

There's been a salary freeze for the past 5 years and now I will be losing a little over $300 a month to boot. I would leave but I'm 23 years deep. Plus for someone like me there are few options available. So making less is still better than making nothing.
