For some time now I have been sick and tired of people demanding I watch some stupid YouTube video.

I'm not talking about forum posting or emailing but I'm talking about when we're socializing in person somewhere that there is an internet connection which happens to be anywhere. I know YouTube has lots of great hillarious meme material and I'd even be willing to bet that I would find what you are about show me funny; if I stumbled upon it on my own. But seriously, stop trying to show me a hillarious video.

Has anyone else tired of this? Is anyone else guilty of doing this? I know people or groups of people who sit around showing each other videos that they "need to see," and it's exhausting. Perhaps I am a social malcontent and worry whether my reaction to the video will be appropriate or not. Perhaps I find it slightly disconcerting that we have so little to talk about that we are reduced to watching 2-10 minute video clips. However, I suspect these people are just idiots. Please stop.

I am pretty much with you Boner. YouTube recommendations have a low batting average for me. Whether they are supposed to be funny or sexy or great music or whatever - more often than not, there is some disconnect between the pusher and myself and it ends up being a waste of my time.

There are a few individuals I have come to trust but most stuff that gets linked on forums/Facebook/whatever, I won't look at. Just playing the odds.

Adding:

Yes I have seen and rejected Tosh.O and no, I'm not going to give it another try.

:mudcat:

yeah, its worse when its older relatives including moms and dads.

they are still finding like kitten videos from 2001 and trying to show me, but it will take them like 10 minutes to get their on their computer...

Here's an example of why humans can't be trusted with their YouTube recommendations. This is one of the most viewed clips of all time. Almost half a billion views.

There's nothing going on. It's just a random minute in the life of a couple of not-particularly-cute kids, probably no more special/funny/interesting than any other minute.

There's nothing going on. Half a billion views. :dunno:

I highly recommend you don't watch this.
