like the kind where you remember exactly where you were when you heard the news....Oklahoma City and Katrina were big , but can't remember where I was when I heard about it. I do clearly remember:

Challenger explosion ....standing in line in cafeteria in college

Iran hostage situation .I was fairly young to understand this, but I do remember sitting at dinner every night saying the number of days they had been held captive and Walter Cronkite saying "That's the way it is" and the date.

Columbine This one was pretty big for me, as I was living in Denver at the time. I was at work and listening to it all live on the radio. That's probably the biggest one for me next to 9/11.

Oh and I was at the bar when I heard Princess Diana died. I never understood the fascination people had with her, Royal Wedding, etc...but tis not my right to judge.

Might be missing something big, but those are the ones that come to mind.

I have a shitload of sports stuff where I clearly remember my circumstances when they happened. Quite a few with Team Canadas in hockey. Some curling, some Olympic stuff, some Blue Jays. Too much to start listing it all.

If I was asked this a week ago I would have said the first moon landing. I thought I had a memory of that but I discovered this week that my facts were all wrong. Like I thought I remembered my parents letting me stay up way past my bedtime to see it - and I remember us being gathered in my old basement - however in a discussion this week I learned that it happened in the afternoon.

So I got some wires crossed there. I'm probably right about the basement but I don't where that other shit comes from.

9/11 and Challenger. :greencheck:

I clearly remember everything around learning of John Lennon's death. I don't think I would name it one of the biggest news stories of my lifetime, but it was one of those hyper-memorable things for me.

Hahaha For the longest time I thought I remembered the moon landing too until I realized this was impossible but I too have what I believed was a "memory" of it.

Adding, Elvis dying, John Lennon, and Reagan attempted assassination as Tier 2.

In Forum history, I suppose Shrink's suicide. I was in EB or SP chat, and there wasn't a lot of sympathy being expressed.
