Kinda interested in the Original Screenplay category. That's the one where Her has a realistic shot. Two horse race and it's close. (Field also consists of Blue Jasmine, Nebraska and Dallas Buyers Club but 5dimes does not appear to have them listed.)

Academy Awards - Oscar for Best Original Screenplay

Her (Spike Jonze) -145
American Hustle (David O. Russell and another dude) +115

Gravity as the runner-up?!? It's barely a movie. :bashing:

Worst. Movie. Ever.

Unfortunately it is the only one I've seen. I want those 90 minutes back. I mean I guess it's ok if you are into the special effects..just not my thing.

And obviously not the worst move ever...but for me personally, it's up there.

Did you see it in the theater? There's no point to it unless you saw it in 3D. It's more thrill ride than movie.

Yeah. And I am not one for rides either, so was really a no go for me. And if I want to look at George Clooney I don't want him to have an astronaut helmet (helmet? that's not right..what's the word?) for %90 of the movie.

I can see where it has cinematography (not sure that's the correct word choice) value or whatever, but I was bored to tears.

I did rent Blue Jasmine back when I was at that casino but fell asleep and never saw the end. I remember liking that and wanting to rent again. I think I will rooting for Blue Jasmine and Anti-Gravity tonight based on my very limited knowledge.

And then there's this proposition. If you like Lupita for Supporting Actress, maybe it's better to bet this sweep at +175 rather than a straight bet at -130, since she's the only one really up in the air.

Academy Awards - Big Six Categories
Picture / Director / Actor / Actress / Supporting Actor / Supporting Actress

12Years/Alfonso/Matt/Cate/Jared/Lupita +175
Any other winner in Big Six Categories -210

Of course it's not quite as simple as that but upsets are so rare in these things. I don't know how the oddsmakers get their info but they have been startlingly accurate over the years.

Show is kinda petering a bit. I guess it's inevitable through all those awards that are so little cared about. Although I am gaining a stronger appreciation of the scope of Alfonso Cuaron's place in the industry. Proud night for him.

Not wild about the choice of Pink to sing Over The Rainbow.

Big awards are to come.
