Wondering what the feeling is on which side everyone is on! Going with SD on this one after watching the Jets stumble through that win against Miami! NY didn't impress me!
Other than the CBs the defense looks vunerable in stopping the run, can't put pressure on the QB, and thinking Leonard can get burnt deep! This highly touted defense IMO won't end up the year as good as anticipated! On offense Sanchez for the most part looks shaky as a hit or miss guy, Greene and LT are good if they get any blocking and Plaxico appears out of sync limiting their receiving options!
The Chargers though haven't played anybody but NE and that was their one loss! Rivers has been less than his previous self of years past but SD's run game has been good so far with Mattews and Tolbert! Their defense on par right now with Jets and the offense has more to offer in Rivers being >>> Sanchez!
Statisically SD much better but don't give that much credence to that considering the disparity in competition played! Still feel this is SD's day especially after seeing Monday night's Jets game! Yes, I know I mentioned eariler!
Of course one can say the Jets won easily by not looking too good but like Stevie mentioned last week the Dolphins are real bad! If not for the interception return TD the game might have been close to the end! Miami was able to run on the Jets (like everyone this year has) but once behind had to put the ball up in the air!
Believe Rivers passing combined with the Chargers running the ball more often than in the past, SD will preveil! Not enough offense on the Jets part in getting the ball down field relying on the dink passing game and hoping thje receiver makes past the yardstick!
As bad as the Jets defense has been they have been stingy in the redzone so SD must get more TDs than FGs when given the opportunity! No stupid TOs by Rivers and company will make the job of winning easier since Jets offense can't be counted on!
The always stated fact why the Jets will win will be the West Coast team flying cross country for 1PM game and losing! But to that you have a rested Chargers team after bye and Jets coming right back after playing Monday night!
Injury news IMO favors the Chargers! Antonio Gates might finally play part of the game which would help even if a decoy! Everyone else should be a go! Jets list C Nick Mangold as questionable along with probably their best DL player right now, Mike Devito who tweeked his knee in practice Thursday!
