Puckie unless you want that to be you next I expect something of value out of you in this thread.

Matty I agree, they are complete psychopaths. As a fan of one of the cleaner and more moral teams in the league I can say this hit was truly a shame and undeserved.

Agreed tully. This shit happens all the time and is not punished. Orpiks just fell weird.

These high-speed hits near the boards are another matter. I dunno that that hit on Schenn is suspension-worthy, but goddamn that was painful to watch.

I'm guessing they could not have been this reckless before helmets. People would be dead all over the place. If they played with some control in the past they should be able to do it now. Longer suspensions and fining the team serious amounts would be my solution. Perhaps fucker also need to be thought safety and keeping head up while handling puck.

yeah it was painful to watch, but I'm on the fence on whether or not it 's a suspendable hit. He was kind of sideways and turned his back. He has to take some responsibility for puttin himself in a vulnerable position, but then again the game is so friggin fast. This is not 1960 - 70's hockey. This shit is fast, aggressive and very dangerous.

Phaneuf's hit that only got him 2 games was just a plain dumb hit from behind. Those are the hits that the NHL need to get rid of. Now every hit is scrutinized which pisses me the fuck off. Good clean open ice hits are now considered dirty when they are in fact legal and beautiful hockey hits. There's nothing better than seeing a Wendel Clark style open ice hit that completely levels a player.
Those hits are part of what makes the game exciting.

15 games for Shawn Thornton was excessive

I actually thought he would get 10 games, but figured the league would go higher. I love clean, honest hockey fights. I hate staged fighting. I even dislike revenge fighting.

Matty, when you become a dad, I bet your opinion will change when it comes to fighting in hockey. Mine did and again I still like an honest, clean heat of the battle fight. This staged and revenge shit has to stop.

Meh. James Neal's knee deserved a longer suspension IMO. He deliberately tried to hurt the guy. Thornton was just trying to enforce.

Honest to god, I don't think Neal's hit to that little douchebag Nova Scotian (Halifax) Marchand was as deliberate as people make it out to be. Remember, Marchand is a dirty little fucker. Karma. But I think Neal was skating by and kind of caught him as he was getting ready to head to the Pens bench for a line change. I don't see him targeting the head.

Look at it again (start at 1:55):

I've listened to and watched that video before. Stop listening to the announcer. He's throwing the word Targeting out there. Look at it again. He does not target the head. He is skating by. It's a fast game. He does not deliberately target the head. Please take another look without volume. Do you see him guiding his knee into his head or is it just a case of bad timing.
