Torquay boss Martin Ling highlighted the importance of other players chipping in after their 1-0 victory over Northampton at Plainmoor.

Defender Mark Ellis, 23, netted a second-half winner, taking his tally to three in four games from Kevin Nicholson's corner from the right, heading low into the net with 15 minutes remaining.

Northampton defender Kelvin Langmead made a superb diving interception to block Chris Robertson's point-blank effort moments earlier, conceding a corner that led to the goal.

Ling said: "There was a purpose to us in the second half. Mark has got another goal and it was from a set play which is always nice.

"It takes the pressure off our top scorer Rene Howe when you have got defenders and midfielders scoring. We have got goals coming from all over the pitch and that has got to be a good thing, especially when you play 4-3-3 like we do.

"It's good to see Mark on the scoresheet again. We have five wins in a row now and understandably the boys are full of confidence." - www.skysports.com/
