why complicate it more than just which team has the best record period?

why should the phillies be bound by anything that the padres, astros and marlins do this season against american league teams? it might have some credence if all teams played each other on the interleague schedule, then you'd at least have something more tangible to go by. but the interleague portion isn't even rotated on some yearly basis, i.e., all al east plays nl east this year, nl central the next, nl west after that. hell, the way it is now teams don't even play the same number of interleague games. the phillies had a pretty tough interleague slate this year, 15 games at 3 apiece vs. the red sox, a's, rangers, mariners and blue jays. the rangers on the other hand played four 3-game series vs. the phils, braves, mets and marlins, plus had six games in a home-&-home with the astros.

I agree with that, but nothing Selig does makes a bit of sense.

Heard something today on one of the sports radio shows that I agreed with.

Guys that are selected as All-Stars and elect to not attend should not receive the All-Star bonus or be eligible the following year. Yeah, it's a long season and you want a break but the game belongs to the fans whom without their support you're huge salaries don't exist. Those fans vote you in and you can't be bothered?

I agree

I said something like that yesterday

guys who don't show shouldn't get money for it or the recognition for being an all star

in other words, jeter is not an 11 time all star or whatever. he'd be a 10 time all star (and a full-time dickhead, but that's a footnote)

jeter is a greedy bastard and content to steal the money for being voted in without even bothering to show

very low
