warmth is one reason.. as far as weightlifting (or soccer/running for kato) is concerned, the compression is supposed to reduce the lactic acid build up by pushing it into the blood stream (lactic acid is that burning sensation in the muscle) and increase blood flow altogther... i also have less soreness after leg workouts than i do if i dont wear them... i wouldnt squat without them on now :donthinkso:
