Figured I would start a computer thread for any Gamelive folks that want to brag,complain or get help. I know plommer is good with computers but I don't know who else is. I have built quite a few computers from scratch over the years and can usually figure out what is wrong with my stuff without having to take it in.

MrQuincy's Spring Computer Tip

Now that spring is here I suggest that it is time to clean your computer. By this I mean, turn it off, unplug it, take the side cover off. Next step, take it outside and open that new can of 'dust-off'

that you just bought at your local computer store. Do not use a vacuum cleaner or an air compressor..spend the $$ on the real stuff. Now go to town on that fucker. If you have never cleaned your computer, you will be thoroughly amazed at the amount of dust that is in the fan and in all the nooks and crannies. Your computer will love you for it as they need all the fresh air they can get.


Now then,

I am happy to report that I have recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my seldom used desktop computer just in time before they stopped supporting Windows XP.

The best part about changing the operating system was that the new Windows 7 driver package for my older Video card finally has the HDMI Audio out option...

This means that I can now use my PC to stream video and audio to my HD TV and I don't have to go out and buy a dedicated USB compatible VCR or any other input device for the TV...bonus. Youtube/NHL streaming here I come.

Windows 8 but use "Classic Explorer" to have the menus as they are presented in 7.

Yap on streaming sports, mainly use PS3 media server to stream other things. No media server for PS4 is major fail! Probably won't invest because of that.

It's not such a bad set up mang.

Make sure you keep the video card fan free of dust otherwise it can overheat..
 
On my phone right now....2 weeks old screen scratched to shit already because Im to lazy to buy a screen protector. When I feel like firing it up I bust out my flea market refurb @180 dollars...2 1/2-3 years old right now...line down the middle cuz the boy dropped it. I didnt beat him for that though. I called him stripe for several weeks after though. We got another laptop he fucjed up the screen on that one too....He got spanked hard...

I have found over the years that people who use Macintosh computers feel the need to pester everyone else about their choice in PC's

It's not the Mac's I hate, it is their users.


Did you ever notice how Mac users are almost always the type of person that feel they must criticize, yet they pay way more for their computers than necessary.

Most Mac users are lucky to be able to find the power switch on their computer.

Can you use the air dusters on the keyboard or only on the inside? What about in a cd drive?

The air dusters can be used on anything Cami.

One can should be able to easily clean all of the inside of a really dusty computer and be able to clean the keyboard too. I like to use a mix of 50/50 mix of rubbing alcohol and water on a cloth for a good keyboard cleaning/disinfectant as well. You can let the mix soak on the keys for a bit and it will loosen any old food/dirt and crud that is stuck on the keyboard.
