That's right, Maryland should cover over Cornell. Got it at -7.5 but I'm looking for a comfortable 13-15 point victory! At this time line continues to go down from starting at 8-8.5 depending on the book!
Maryland has won 6 straight, all at home but weak schedule so far with these wins over inferior competition by a combined 42 points! Cornell on the other hand has lost 4 straight, all on the road but have keep the games relatively close! Illinois and Albany common opponents where both squads have lost to Illinois while beating Albany!
The Terps now have 2 key players in point man Pe'Shon Howard and 7'1" Alex Len in the rotation the last few games! No more point duties for scorer Stoglin! Too many mistakes for Maryland it appears with not being able to close out opponents and easy wins become nail biters!
Cornell again a team that will shoot the 3's but no where need the talent of the Big Red of previous years! Team appears to play pesky defense forcing lots of turnovers! Scappy, smart team that will go 9 deep!
Keys I see in Maryland covering is on offense keep the TOs to minimum, hustle for 2nd chance opportunities and in the process get to the foul line! Maryland has average over 11+ more FTA and 4+ more rebounds than there opposition per game! Cornell on the other hand goes to the charity stripe 7 less than the opponent while getting out rebounded by 7+ a game!
Cornell can keep in close by hitting their 3s if Maryland loses focus on getting out to put a hand in their faces! Also forcing the Terps to shoot from the outside and miss would help avoid Terps shooting too many free throws! Both teams have 1st year coaches but Mark Turgeon IMO more proven on sidelines!
So in conclusion I see Maryland having more talent in taking the step forward in total team improvement by covering the spread!
Also when I drove in the car this morning the digital odometer read 77720.7! It will reach 77777.7 sometime tonight! Probably after midnight! Is it a sign for this play tonight or one tomorrow? I have a call out to a colleague but he hasn't got back to me yet!
