I've never been out on that day to shop, except for one time with my mother in law in Canton Ohio for some boots.

back in 2005 I visited my friend in KC for thanksgiving. 4 of us had a nice little thanksgiving dinner and walk around downtown KC. Went home and went to bed, but then he had to get up at like 2 am to go to work at best buy.

it just didn't seem right

Give me good food and drink, family and football...nothing else I could want for. Years ago I did wake up at 4:00 and drove a mile to a Best Buy as I needed a new laptop. The line was 2 blocks long with people who had been standing there over night. I said WTF and went back to bed. Never again.

People are ridiculous.

How bout we just eliminate the entire concept of gift giving? Give to charity instead. There is nothing I could buy for anyone in my family that they couldn't or wouldn't buy for themselves if they wanted it. Same for me. The whole concept has become ridiculous to me in recent years. I guess the whole shopping experience is fun for some people. However in my ex perience, the people who have the most fun shopping are the ones who can least afford to be buying Aunt Sally another Santa sweater or their teenage daughter the newest I device. Just an observation.

IAG - I love giving gifts, it makes other people happy, and it shows them I care. I don't care if I get any gifts, although it is nice, but I like making other people happy and showing them I care.

I do think the Holiday has lost touch with it's true meaning, but there are also plenty of people out there who haven't. I love the holidays and nothing will ever change that.
