Again these fukking posters lead me astray. I was asking people why books weren't giving Mickelson much of a shot to do well and no one gave me a decent answer. So I left him alone and just stuck with Day to finish in the top 6 like the square that I am. No more of this golf bullshit.

Oh yeah and congrats Clarke.

yep his 1st

Good for him. I remember there being a big fuss about him at one point awhile back but obviously it wasn't for a major win. Maybe it was because he defeated Tiger in the final of a matchplay tourney or some damn thing?? That rings a bell.

So he vaults ahead of Colin Montgomery and Sergio Garcia in the majors list. Nice.

I usually follow the golf majors pretty closely but this almost slid right by me. I guess the time zone difference and early finish is part of it, but the no-Tiger factor definitely makes a difference.

phil had one previous top 10 at the british open in something like 18 tries.

Ah ok. And to be fair, I didn't really ask here. I tried to steer people towards a golf conversation when Blitty and Cali were scrapping but surprisingly no one jumped at the offer. :lmao:

I like Phil and I'm glad he did well. I just read an article about Day and the weather he was playing in on Day 3 so if I'd been paying attention, I would've kissed my cash goodbye then.

i watched a ton of this year's tourney, enjoyed the heck out of it. great stories from start to finish, wild swings to the weather. clarke is the epitome of a people's champion. his best line was after 18 on friday when he had the lead and some steward/official told him to enjoy his pint of guiness after the round, and clarke said "maybe two or three."

also got to like the showing from three unlikely americans in the event - mickelson, dustin johnson and rickie fowler. overall great showing for the yanks with five of the top 7.
